It was precisely 22.2 miles outside of Winnemucca… give or take a yard. As I recall the coffee was really old and the bathroom had just
been swarmed by 2 van loads of male students. I did partake of a rather tasty oatmeal raisin cookie :).
P.S I took care of the pic within seconds of you sending it 🙂

Beautiful skies and that huge landscape engulfing the petrol station. Great image.
Tony @ June 7, 2013, 6:20 am
Funny there is something about American landscape that invites a treatment like this………. where the sky is everything………

Parma Violets………. I forgot the name but now I see them on the link the taste comes flooding back ……….. i loved those
things…….. I read a quote : A memory is when something happens and it never quite unhappens………. in my mouth right now I have
the wonderful sensation of parma violets…….. but it has to be 20 years…. more… since I had one ………. and that feeling has not not
completely unhappened……….

Basically some of the people around here are in the “Cork Soaking” business….
Ho and his fellow Ninja hoes x @ June 7, 2013, 7:24 am
I understand The cork soaking business is important in your part of the world. I see China has placed trade restrictions on French
wine industry today they are pobably getting protectionist about their own industry

What is it about sunset skys and neon? It’s irresistible for us snappers, isn’t it? I can’t help myself. If there’s a pool of light to with it . . . .
. . well its photo cat nip!!
Love it great shot, Jez
Hugh @ June 7, 2013, 10:47 am
ah…….. the blue period…….. the time the neon or traditional bulbs balances exposure wise with the light in the sky………. its cat nip
alright…….. if I am rolling in the car as that time comes about I just gotta stop at a self illuminating subject like a gas station……..
hehehe……. i just gotta stop and get a little of that cat nip……. :))))))))))))

Petrol stations in the UK never look like this
Lee @ June 8, 2013, 6:09 pm
Its true its rare to get an iconic one in desert landscape with endless sky and amazing sunset……… and yet and yet…….. they are
not so dissimilar……… especially if you photograph them at this precise time of day where the neons balance with the sky………. I
must remember to try and shoot one for you……….. you would be amazed there is the perfect fifteen minutes to photograph a gas
station even in Britain ……….. if you are there at the right time even UK gas stations are gonna look a tiny bit iconic………. but hey
its a lot easier in the US especially when u r rolling on an 8000 mile trip……… what with US landscape and US weather u r gonna be
passing the odd iconic gas station at the right time and weather most days …….. :)))))))
