Way Too Early for the Airport : Queensborough Bridge : NYC

Image description:
So I went to bed at 1AM then got back up at 3AM …. I was rolling towards LaGuargia airport by 400AM
…. The driver took me for a tourist type with my camera and British accent…. He started telling me things like he was practicing leading a tour bus ….
For instance he told me the bridge we were using to get off of Manhattan Island had three names …the one I hear most often … The one I
always use myself.. The Queensborough Bridge… But it was apparently renamed to honor a previos mayor of New York City… Mayor Ed
Koch… So it’s also the Mayor Koch Bridge… Who knew? I’ve heard the name but kind of assumed the Mayor Ed Koch bridge was somewhere
in Queens not actually attached at one end to Manhattan…?? But for extra confusion… it’s also apparently often referred to as the 59th Street
Bridge…. Confusing at any time of day…. but how is the taxi driver chirpily delivering all this information at 437AM
… How is doin it ?.. You know it’s just way too early when you are crossing out of Manhattan to get a flight…. And the bridge or tunnel which ever you take … whatever it’s called… and no matter how many names it has … Yeah when any bridge looks like this….like it is still totally the middle of the night… Its just too early………… Yeah, even now as I write this on my phone… I have been flying for hours .. Enough time to be served two grim but necessary coffees anyway … This feels like hours of flying… And it is still only 645AM … Heading for wheels down in Minnesota … At 750
AM… This really is an early flight… It is just totally brutal…. Wooow … Who on earth booked these flights? hehehehe……… :)))))))))) XXXXXXX
Cheers Jez XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
PS………. I wrote this early this morning on my phone as I was flying ……… its now approx midnight ……… thats a pretty long working day…….. 21 hours ?? ………….. ://
:)))))))))

Nice one bro…if it was the King driving you at that dreadful hour I would have put on the Simon and Garfunkel’s “59th Street Bridge
Song” and by the time you hit LGA you’d have been “Feelin Groovy” which is another name for the song more famous than the
bridge…its opening line is “slow down, you move to fast” which would be appropriate for you Jez hahaha Hope to catch you on the
rebound next time you’re in NYC..Safe travels bro.

I think the place in Brick Lane probably went bust after everyone went digital, it was usually full of photographers waiting for
their rolls of e6 to be processed by Metro, lol.
Try Ingersoll’s…

Hey Harv…….. Funnily enough the digital world sort of leads to more social interaction between photo types in the virtual
world……. but I do kinda miss the serendipity of meetings with friends and competitors down at Metro…….. and I do miss
hanging out at those cafes in the middle of the night …….. I used to love that place Ferraris on Smithfield meat
market……… right now I’m having a breakfast at McDonalds……. I know……. but I do like an Egg Mcmuffin …….. and they
all have free WiFi so I can chat to my photography friends online hehehe……… and Ive been up since 3AM……… I need
some carbs to keep rollin hehehehe……… must see about the Des Moine place I will be back there later…….. but thinking
about it probably way too late unless it has the same hours as that Brick Lane place…….. hehehe……. :)))))))
