‘Johnny Pleasure’ with his 421 Pontiac 1965; man and machine;the original owner. He still spoke in an optimistic and endearing way about the speed, handling and ‘girl magnet’ powers of this, his car…… in the present tense……..er…….. as if he could just get right in and burn away, when it actually looked as if it might never move under its own power again! It certainly was just rotting away outside his garage with no roof a carpet of moss and half its engine missing…….. as if it had not moved in 20 years.
We saw the potential for this image and pulled over. I loved the yellow writing on the blue wall with the blue sky and the rotting mega cars. It turned out Johnny the garage owner was very cool and relaxed. He allowed us to photograph any of his cars for as long as we chose and even himself for a short while.
