I’m back in the big city …. land of the yellow cab ……. But I did something I have never done before …… I took a green cab from the airport ……. Yeah a ‘green cab’ ……… one of these relatively new outer boroughs green cabs ……….. I saw him at Jamaica station having given up on the yellow cab line at JFK’s terminal1 because it was hundreds of people long and no cabs were coming …… So I took the airtrain to Jamaca Station intending to take the subway …….. But there I saw the green cab dropping someone ……. The driver was a new guy, having been driving only a couple of months ….. he was a very nice bloke, knew his stuff about Queens ……. But it was odd, he clearly had hardly ever driven in Manhattan, he was not clear even which way was downtown as he emerged from the tunnel he told me had only ever been to Manhattan a very few times . ……… luckily I knew the way…… not too difficult as Manhattan is a perfect grid at that point :-)))))))))
