I went to see the opening of my old mate Simon Robert’s exhibition tonight in Brooklyn his exhibit is called ‘Pierdom’ about the piers that protrude into the sea from the coast line of Britain……… it’s a great show and a great book :-)) I saw Aidan and one or two other Brits there too …….. the whole show and the evening had that kind of nice Brit quirkiness ………. :-)))
I think the EDL pictured above display more than a bit of Brit quirkiness but certainly not in such a nice way……….. In fact usually in a rather grim way ……… Camilla’s article in the Sunday Times Mag ……… captured some quirky surprising more human stuff as well as the expected grimness of this street fascist movement ……..

Funnily enough I was thinking about this picture…….. During the days of the height of the NF only the Queen could stand by The
Union Jack without looking like a fascist. The National Front had hijacked the Union Flag …….. the rise of Scottish Nationalism with
their St Andrews cross (famed by braveheart Americans) allowed English footie fans to proudly use the cross of St George without
looking like fascists …….. sadly the adoption of the same flag by the EDL is bound to bring the hijacking of the Cross of St George
for right wing entities……. sad cos it looks like the flag of a medieval army more historic than grim and current to me…………
We Brits in NY are a whole tribe……. like the French in London …… a French person told me there is an M.P that represents the
French in London in their pariament……. ????? Can’t be right surely?? But if so we NY Brits could do with an MP in Westminster
representing us guys in NYC …….. maybe I should be that guy? It would subsidize a few flights :)))))))
